About UK Tax
UK Tax is a ledger of UK government spending, tax receipts and public finances, using figures published by official sources.
The project books one published figure at a time. It does not produce a single number for UK tax or UK spending by adding series together. Methodology sets out which books stay apart. Sources names the files.
The books behind the question pages are the ONS Public Sector Finances (Appendix D for current receipts, including JW2O and AHHY, and Appendix M for borrowing, series J5II), HMRC cash receipts, and HM Treasury PESA outturn. Spending on services (TES) and total managed expenditure (TME) are different PESA totals. The OBR Economic and fiscal outlook is held as a forecast. It is not outturn, and it is not the answer on a question page.
IPSA publishes what was claimed. The Register of Members’ Financial Interests publishes what was received. Those columns are not added together, and neither is added to the public-sector accounts.
Ingest reads an official file, keeps the cells it can identify, and stores them with a series code, a period and a source. A page may divide one booked total by one booked count. It does not add two series into a new total.
Aaron Gammon runs this ledger at Inferrex.
Corrections: if a booked cell does not match the file it cites, open an issue at inferrex-master/uktax-lol.
