What counts as a correction here, how one is recorded, and how to report one.

Three kinds of correction

A revision. When a publisher revises a figure, the new value is stored as a new version of the dataset and the earlier value is kept. The dataset page shows both, each with its published date and retrieved date. The earlier value is not deleted and not overwritten.

A quality issue. When a check fires, for example a file that changed shape, a series that stopped updating, or a cell that does not match the file it cites, a quality issue row is stored against the dataset. It stays open until the cause is fixed.

A dated note. When the site itself was wrong, a note is written with the date, what was shown, what was right, and when it was fixed.

Where the log lives

The log lives in the site database. Versions and revisions are shown on each page under Datasets. A dataset with no versions has not been ingested, which is not the same as having no revisions.

How to report
