Who we are
uktax.lol is run by Inferrex Ltd. We decide how your information is used, which makes us the data controller.

The newsletter
If you sign up, Mailchimp keeps your email address and a record of when and how you signed up and confirmed. We don't ask for your name. We don't track whether you open or click our emails.
We use it to send you the uktax.lol newsletter once a month. It covers new official figures added to the site and changes to our Unanswered Questions. We won't use your email for anything else, and we won't sell it.
Our legal basis is your consent. You sign up, then confirm by clicking the link in the email Mailchimp sends. No newsletter is sent until you confirm. You can withdraw your consent at any time with the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every newsletter, or by emailing [email protected]. Withdrawing doesn't affect emails already sent.
Analytics and cookies
We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It records the pages you visit, your device and browser, roughly where you are, and how you arrived. It uses cookies to tell one visit from another. We don't use it to identify you.
Google Tag Manager loads Google Analytics and Mailchimp's signup pop-up. The pop-up uses cookies to remember whether you closed it or signed up.
Our legal basis for analytics cookies is your consent. You can refuse them, and the site works the same without them.
Ask the ledger
When you use Ask, the text of your question is kept with the time it was asked and the records used to answer it, so we can check answers and fix mistakes. Don't type personal information into Ask. Your IP address is held for 60 seconds to limit how many questions one connection can send, then deleted.
Who else sees it
Each of these services acts only on our instructions, under a data processing agreement.

Because data leaves the UK, it is protected by safeguards recognised under UK law. Cloudflare uses standard contractual clauses with the UK Addendum, and is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Mailchimp uses the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, with standard contractual clauses as a fallback. Google uses standard contractual clauses with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, under the Google Ads Data Processing Terms, which cover Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager.
We don't share your information with anyone else, unless the law requires us to.
How long we keep it
Newsletter: until you unsubscribe. If you don't confirm, your address is not added to the list. After you unsubscribe, we delete your address within 30 days.
Analytics: Google Analytics keeps event data for 2 months and user data for 14 months.
Ask: questions are kept until we delete them. They carry no name, email or IP address.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to give you a copy of the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. Email [email protected]. We'll reply within one month.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK regulator: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Changes to this notice
If we change this notice, we'll update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we'll tell subscribers in the next newsletter.
